Widow Empowerment

Widows to Workers (W2W)

Our Initiative

The Problem

Widowhood in Nigeria is often compounded by economic vulnerability, social isolation, and cultural stigma. Many women who lose their husbands lose their primary income source, their home, and their standing in the community — all at once. Widows in underserved rural communities are especially at risk, with limited access to support systems or legal protection.

Our Response

The Widows to Workers (W2W) initiative provides a holistic support model — combining economic empowerment, psychosocial care, healthcare access, and skills development so that widows can rebuild their lives with dignity and independence.

Economic Empowerment

Vocational training (tailoring, small business management), micro-grants, and access to savings and loan schemes.

Psychosocial Support

Grief counselling, support groups, and legal aid awareness on inheritance rights and community standing.

Health & Well-being

Health awareness programmes and facilitated access to basic healthcare services.

Skills Development

Literacy, numeracy, and life skills training to build long-term independence and confidence.
